WHAT IS CORPORATE CHALLENGE?
Since 1992, Corporate Challenge has been a two-week Sport & Recreation event with a focus on participation, sportsmanship, team building, community giving and fun! The Games were created to provide an activity for a handful of local businesses to foster employee interaction, teamwork, morale, pride, and health & wellness. The response proved overwhelming and today the Games have grown to include over 170 companies and over 18,000 athletes in an Olympic-style competition that is one of the largest amateur sporting events in Canada!

HOW MANY EVENTS DOES MY COMPANY HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR?
Once your company signs up for the Games you can choose to sign up for as many events as you like. You can sign up for just one event or all 23 if you like. Your entry fee covers the cost of all events (except golf, which has a user fee). After you've registered for the Games, survey your employees and find out what events they are interested in competing in and then just sign up for those. We prefer that you sign up only for those events that you know you will be able to field a team. Last minute cancellations are disappointing for everyone!
WHO CAN PLAY FOR MY COMPANY?
Anyone who is employed by your company at the time of the Games that is over the age of 18 can play! For virtual events, invite coworkers from other cities to take part as well. Participants can play for one company only.
For more information on identification and eligibility, please visit the
Rules of the Games.
DOES CORPORATE CHALLENGE HAVE A THEME?
YES!
This is one of the most fun and creative parts of the Games. Past themes have included Pirates, 80's, Western, Space, and many more!
We will be announcing the 2025 theme in November - stay tuned! It's going to be a fun one!
HOW CAN MY COMPANY SPONSOR THE GAMES?
Our sponsors help us to make Corporate Challenge a fantastic experience year after year while receiving exposure to our diverse audience of Edmonton businesses and employees. Our sponsorships range in prices from $5,000 - $15,000 and we have a great sponsorship recognition program. We'd be happy to customize a package to hit your company's sponsorship goals.

WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF POINTS MEAN?
Corporate Challenge has different ways to earn points. This includes CHALLENGE, SPIRIT and PARTICIPATION points.
CHALLENGE points are the points that will take your team to the top of your division and crown you the champions! You earn these by placing in the top 6 of your division. All CHALLENGE events will also award medals to participants placing in the gold, silver and bronze positions after the Games are over.
PARTICIPATION points are earned with every event your company participates in and added directly into your CHALLENGE total - so the more of these you gather the better the chances of winning your division!
SPIRIT points are added together and the teams in each division with the most SPIRIT points at the end of the games will earn overall CHALLENGE points as well as the Spirit Award. Plus, everyone who earns a minimum of 500 SPIRIT points will earn 10 CHALLENGE points.
For more information on the Corporate Challenge points system, please visit the
Rules of the Games.

WILL THERE BE A REQUIREMENT FOR MY COMPANY TO SUPPLY VOLUNTEERS?
Volunteers are a big part of our events.
Whether it is scorekeeping at volleyball, keeping score or registering participants, each and every volunteer shift is vital to the success of the Games.
As part of your company's commitment to Corporate Challenge, your company is required to provide volunteers…PLUS it’s a great way to get more of your company participating in the Games!
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
Your Company is required to provide a maximum number of volunteers based on the division you have been assigned. Please note that we don't always assign the maximum number of shifts to all companies.
This is the maximum number of volunteers required by division. Please note, this may change as we complete planning on the events and determine divisional breakdowns.
Blue – 6
Yellow – 8
Red - 12
VOLUNTEERS
- Do NOT have to be employees of your company (friends, family are eligible)
- MUST be at least 18 years of age
- Are not permitted to bring along their pets or children
- Must stay for the entire assigned shift
VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS
Teams pick the volunteer assignments through our SignUp system. This will be open on April 21, 2025.
VOLUNTEER FULFILLMENT POINTS
All teams that fulfill their volunteer assignments will be awarded 10 overall points. Please note that the above number of volunteers is only a maximum – we don’t always assign the maximum number to each company. So for example; If you are in the red division and we only give you 10 volunteer assignments, that is all you have to fulfill to receive your points. If for any reason we cancel your volunteer assignment and you are not given another one, you will receive the bonus points.
VOLUNTEER DUTIES
Click here for a complete list of volunteer roles and their descriptions.
VOLUNTEER NO SHOW PENALTIES:
Companies that do not provide the volunteers requested will receive a 3 Overall Point deduction for each volunteer shift that is not fulfilled
Corporate Challenge reserves the right to disqualify your team from sports/events if your volunteers do not show up for shifts scheduled at the same time as your competition.
